GRID developer Codemasters acquires Project CARS studio - dosswherfuld
Codemasters, developer and newspaper publisher of GRID, has snapped up Somewhat Mad Studios for $30 million, as reported by GamesIndustry.game.
Codemasters specialises in the vroom-vroom writing style of crippled, producing the Dirt, F1, Small Machines, and TOCA series. It has also made a collection of titles including Operation Flashpoint, Master, and Rise of the Argonauts. Everyone working underProject CARS developer Slightly Mad Studios will be transferred to Codemasters, and the deal was sealed with a $30 million fee composed with an three-year earnout clause.
Codemasters CEO Frank Sagnier unambiguous his ebullience to collaborate with Slenderly Mad Studios, and stated that the partnership will "create the future multiplication of racing franchises." Slenderly Sore Studios has three titles in the works. These are the mobile spinoff Project CARS Move, a plot inspired aside "a Hollywood smash hit picture franchise", and a project draftsmanship along the developer's own catalogue of properties.
"Codemasters' acquisition of SMS will create a global leader in the racing literary genre," Sagnier told GamesIndustry.game. "Their stress on AAA prime and the heat that they put into everything they create mirrors our own. Both companies have a number of world renowned, successful franchises along with exciting product development pipelines, supported away leading IP and more or less of the best talent in the gambling industry."
GRID and Project CARS 2 are out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
